This Instant Pot Chocolate Mousse is a rich and airy dessert that brings the elegance of French cuisine right to your home kitchen. With the Instant Pot, you can achieve perfectly silky and smooth mousse in no time. The combination of dark chocolate and whipped cream creates a luxurious treat that’s perfect for special occasions or simply to indulge in after a long day.
The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity; just a handful of ingredients are transformed into a decadent dessert that’s sure to impress. The Instant Pot not only speeds up the cooking process but also helps to maintain the ideal temperature for melting chocolate, ensuring a flawless texture. Serve it in individual cups topped with whipped cream or fresh berries for a stunning presentation.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Begin by pouring 1 cup of water into the Instant Pot and placing the trivet inside. In a heatproof bowl, add the dark chocolate chips and unsalted butter. Place this bowl on top of the trivet, ensuring it doesn’t touch the water. Close the lid and set the Instant Pot to “Steam” mode for 5 minutes.
- While the chocolate is melting, in a separate mixing bowl, whisk the eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is light and frothy. This will help to incorporate air into the mousse, giving it a fluffy texture.
- Once the Instant Pot beeps, carefully release the pressure, and remove the bowl with the melted chocolate and butter. Allow it to cool slightly before folding it into the egg mixture. Stir gently until fully combined.
- In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture, being careful not to deflate the whipped cream. This step is essential for achieving a light and airy mousse.
- Once fully combined, spoon the mousse into individual serving cups or bowls. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until set. Serve chilled, optionally topped with whipped cream or fresh berries.
Extra Tips:
For a more intense chocolate flavor, consider using high-quality dark chocolate with a cocoa percentage of 70% or higher. You can also experiment with flavors by adding a splash of liqueur, such as orange liqueur or coffee, to the chocolate mixture before folding in the whipped cream.
If you want to make it even more decadent, serve the mousse with a drizzle of chocolate sauce or a sprinkle of sea salt on top.
